As if the NBA hasn't already shook things up enough this off-season, news came in last night that the Indian Pacers has traded Paul George to the Oklahoma City Thunder. A lot of speculation has been going on of who would acquire the Fresno State alumni. We heard rumors of Boston, Cleveland, and the Rockets. But the Thunder won this time.
This trade has thrusted OKC back into the NBA title race which of course would let Westbrook take his shot at Durant and the Warriors. It has been reported that the Thunder has been scouring the NBA for players that could be paired with Westbrook, even meeting with Jimmy Butler who ultimately being traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves. But with George only having one more year left, we can see if the trade was worth it.
Adding George was the first shoe to drop for the Thunder as they reshape the roster around Westbrook, and as one source said, "They aren't done yet." The Thunder plan to meet with Rudy Gay as free agency opens Saturday, according to sources, to add more scoring options alongside Westbrook and George.
George sent out a message on Instagram yesterday to his new teammate on OKC.
